The Look of Glasses
Nov 2nd 2016
There are plenty of options when it comes to glasses frames and plenty of opinions on what looks best. Ultimately, however, it’s your decision. As you search for the right pair, here are some tips that may help you make the choice that’s best for you.
The Shape of Your Face
It has long been said that certain frame types suit particular face shapes better than others. There are several general face shapes and advice on the frames that best correspond to them. Generally, the easiest way to choose based on this approach is to select frames with a shape somewhat opposite to that of your face (such as round frames for a square face, etc.). For example, slim, rectangular glasses are said to make a round face appear slightly more slim and long because they’re generally wider than the face, while small frames may emphasize the width of a round face. A square face, on the other hand, may be better suited with round frames.
The Colors
There is a multitude of colors from which to choose and you could always choose your favorite. You can also select a color that you feel suits your skin tone. Warm skin colors, such as those with a bronze or golden color, are thought to be suited best with tortoise, brown, and green, but not with lighter colors and pastels, or black. Cool skin tones, such as pinkish skin, are thought to look better with darker colors such as black, blue, pink, etc.
Of course, it’s always essential to consider your lifestyle. If you’re active, you want a frame that will stay easily on your face. Or, perhaps you only use your glasses for reading, or while working on a computer. It’s nice to be in fashion, but, ultimately, the most important thing is that you’re comfortable in your frames and like the way they look.
