Contact lenses can be great. Many people find them more efficient than glasses for vision correction. Others find them as a great supplement to glasses, while some don’t like them at all. As great at they can be, then can sometimes cause irritation. When this happens, here are some methods for managing contact lens discomfort.
Try Dailies
There are many types of lenses. You can wear the same pair for one week, two weeks, and one month, depending on the type. This doesn’t mean those are right for everyone. There are even overnight contacts, but most doctors do not recommend sleeping in contacts under any circumstances. If you experience discomfort often, talk to your optometrist about dailies. That way, you get a fresh pair every day.
Eye Drops
Make using moisturizing eye drops a habit, whether you’re wearing contacts or not. Use some that are just for your eyes, and some that are for use with contacts. Also, if you have had your contacts in for a long period, take them out and give your eyes a rest, soak them, moisturize your eyes, and then clean your contacts before putting them back in. This routine might even become a long-term solution, and you might not need the drops as much after a while.
Glasses
Sometimes, wearing contacts regularly just doesn’t work. But, you don’t have to give them up altogether. Instead, add glasses to your routine. When your eyes feel discomfort, you can take a break and wear your glasses. When your glasses become cumbersome during an activity, switch to contacts. This way, you will always have something convenient for vision correction.
